Crossing Europe - London to Prague

Tentative Itinerary ~ August 5 - August 23

August 5, 2011 – Bon Voyage!

[written on the plane from Salt Lake to Minneapolis]

Nick and I are finally on our way to London. Our stomachs our full of Ginger Ale (the classic airplane drink) and three small bags of assorted finger snacks, which never seem to quite satisfy my enormous appetite while flying. Anyway, today was packed full of stress and excitement. I awoke thrilled that I’d be catching a flight with Nick later in the afternoon; however I was quickly overwhelmed with how much needed to be done. I had a tasked list that looked something like this:

-       Wake up at 4:30 am
-       Work ~ [5 – 8 am]
-       Pack the last of my belongings into my car ~ [8 am – 9 am]
-       Clean apartment & check out (contract ends on the 15th) ~ [9 am – 10 am]
-       Stop by Wells Fargo ~ [10 am – 10:30 am]
-       Drive home and unpack my car ~ [10:30 am – 11:30 pm]
-       Do laundry & pack my backpack ~ [11:30 – 1:00 pm]
-       Have plenty of time to check & recheck my backpack ~ [1 pm – 3 pm]
-       Drive to airport ~ [3 pm – 4 pm]

Okay, so I was able to complete all of theses tasks. Unfortunately, I did not allow myself enough time to complete each one as planned. I was frantically throwing clothes, camping gear, and other things into my backpack that would help me survive an 18-day backpacking trip from London to Prague. Let’s just say…I had absolutely nothing in my backpack by the time Nick came over at 3 pm. His stress level combined with my mother’s was enough to put the entire McAlister family (Home Alone) to shame. Fortunately, we arrived to the airport with plenty of time AND got boarded the correct plane without too much running. It should be interested to find out which items I forgot to pack. Hopefully nothing too important!

Nick and I will have soon have an hour layover in Minneapolis before connecting with our long flight to Heathrow International Airport located just outside London.
